This instance is friendly towards anti-fascists, members of the LGBTQ+ community, activist movements, hackers, and anyone who doesn't think "free speech" is the only important human right. Anyone is welcome so long as they abide by the rules. This is not a free speech zone, Nazis fuck off. We do not federate with fascist instances. NOTE: The "No begging for money rule" refers to messaging or mentioning individual users unsolicited and personally asking for money. You can post asking for mutual aid and word it however you like. Staff Admin: @nathan NSFW Content We allow NSFW content to be posted, but with limitations. We allow such content for users to be able to express themselves, not to be a place to share random porn. NSFW posts must be behind Mastodon's content warning feature (the "CW" button, or the shield/speech bubble icon with the "!" inside it, depending on the app you're using) and NSFW media must be marked as sensitive. The warning must not explicitly describe the content, but you may describe it in a generic way (e.g. "kink discussion"). NSFW content is permitted so long as users can consent to seeing it. By default, posts on Mastodon are public and show up on the Local and Federated timelines. Posts with NSFW content that have their privacy set to anything other than Public don't need to follow this rule as users can opt out by unfollowing you. As users are forced to see your profile picture no matter what, it must always be safe for work. NSFW media is treated the same regardless of gender. Although you may live in a society where cis men being topless is acceptable, it's not our place to assume someone's gender based on their body and we shouldn't make moderator decisions based on that either. This keeps it fair for everyone. NSFW content can be easily defined by asking yourself if you'd send it to a minor. We do have minors on the site and there's a good chance your Public posts will be seen by them, so if it's not suitable for them to see, mark it clearly as NSFW. Handling harassment If you are being harassed, please report the user using the "…" button and then "Report." For urgent concerns, please DM a moderator. If you engage in harassing behavior, the moderator may take any action they deem appropriate, such as a warning or an expulsion. The above rules may change at any time, and you may be banned at any time based on the moderators' judgment. File Limits Photos have a maximum file size of 10MB and videos have a maximum file size of 40MB. Data Location All Mastodon user data is stored within the Federal Republic of Germany. Media uploads are stored on a global CDN. Encrypted daily database backups are stored off-site in the Netherlands. Funding The operational costs of Mastodon.lol are several hundred Euros per month. Either your email or password is incorrect of you're trying to login to the wrong server. Your email and password hash and are only stored on the server you signed up to. There's no reason you'd need to sign in to other server, you can access everything with just one account! Why can't I upload images? You're probably using the official Mastodon iOS app. It's kinda buggy and lacks features. Try the Metatext app instead.
